It’s time to think about planting corn for a large part of America. It is such an amazing plant that feeds the world. I was assigned to do a cover shoot for Farm Industry News regarding the consolidation of seed companies. With a little macro work and some blending in photoshop, my goal was to capture the essence of merging corn kernels. Along with my photo I’m adding some corn facts.
-An ear of corn averages 800 kernels in 16 rows. -100 bushels of corn produces approximately 7,280,000 kernels. -In the U.S. corn production measures more than 2 times that of any crop. -Each year, a single U.S. corn farmer provides food and fiber for 129 people – 97 in the U.S. and 32 overseas. -Corn is a plant first domesticated by Native American people somewhere over 6,000 years ago in Mexico.
